The Rose City

We spent a few days in Portland recently exploring the neighborhoods of the city. Chinatown & Old Town blend together; the Pearl district is an old warehouse area now known for it's creative side: artists, designers, writers and boutique shopping. The Northwest district has a very neighborhood feel with a mix of housing, great restaurants and shops. We wandered through the University district and enjoyed the campus of PSU. The Historic Waterfront district is a scenic park along the Williamette River made for bicyclers and pedestrians. The Downtown district is the city's business center - again filled with great shopping and restaurants. Lots of local breweries dot the city and most notable is how bicycle friendly the city is. A day trip found us touring the historic highway enroute to the Columbia River Gorge and town of Hood River. Beautiful area, very user friendly city.... love to go back someday!
