Amsterdam

See the rest of the photos here....
I was teamed up with an old friend, Smokin' Joe M from Chicago, on a recent trip to Amsterdam. The overnight flight arrived in AMS on a wet Sunday morning. After a 3 hour power nap we hopped on our bikes around 4 PM and rode through the crowded streets of Amsterdam. We took the Buiksloterweg ferry across the river and then headed out to the country to Monnickendam via Nieuendam, Durgerdam and Holysloot. After a cold beverage in Monnickendam, we headed back to Amsterdam via Broek en Waterland, an idyllic little village where we stopped for numerous photo ops. Great 25 mile, 7 hour ride. Back in Amsterdam, we had a refreshment at Mulligans, an Irish music house and then a late dinner at Wok to Walk just off the Leidseplein which is a lively square in central Amsterdam popular for its nightlife, restaurants, bars, cafes and coffeeshops. Beautiful weather after a rainy start....nice way to spend a Sunday in August.

  2. Great pictures, great time. Thanks.
I told my wife how impressed I was with your sense of direction. I would still be wandering the city wondering how to find the hotel (which I don't even know the name of!) - JM
