One Question, Please, Otosan

So Pat and I are enjoying patio dining with Maui Dave, Masami and others at Luckey 13s after our bike ride a few weeks ago and Masami mentions that she and Dave are going to Maui via Honolulu in a couple of weeks. As (bad?) luck would have it, I'm the Captain on their flight. Dave, who is one of our 747 pilots, had the jumpseat and Masami sat in back and got the royal treatment from our Lead Flight Attendant and his crew. Prior to boarding, we took these pictures of Dave and Masami on the flight deck.

Well, it turns out that the purpose of the trip is to visit with Masami's family in Osaka, Japan where Dave is going to ask Masami's Dad for permission to marry his daughter. Although Masami's parents, Ikeiko and Otosan, speak English very well, he'll ask the question in his best Japanese. They're now spending a week in Maui prior to the trip to Osaka so he can polish up his command of the Japanese language. Good luck David-san! What we all want to know is this....... if Otosan says 'NO' to a gaijin son-in-law, must you commit seppuku to save face? Stay tuned......
